lecol – lecol & wakol products from euroak skip to content home products euroak’s shop discover fitting hardwood floors with the wakol system euroak hardwood floor makers are official suppliers of the lecol, wakol and loba group of products. lecol lecol is a familiar name to anyone involved with hardwood flooring. long regarded as the bench mark for wood floor fitting products, the quality is unsurpassed. some have been in production for many years and are yet to be bettered. wakol less familiar in the uk but well established across the rest of the globe is the wakol name. wakol is not so much a brand but a system – a complete and fully compatible group of products that when used together correctly can solve most fitting problems. loba to complete the trio, loba manufacture very high quality waterbourne finishes and maintenance products. various sheen levels are available with single pack lacquers for domestic and mid-level use to two pack finishes for heavy traffic. this blog is owned and run by lecol distributor euroak ltd . views and tips are our own and do not replace manufacturers recommendations. search for: home products euroak’s shop website by finch design lobadur easyprime used as a first coat before waterbourne lacquers. prevents side bonding and grain raising (to an extent). do not re-coat too soon. don’t sand it. no real downside apart from darkening the timber slightly. for datasheet click here. 5 ltr – £46.50 + vat close lobadur fusion fusion is a heavy duty 2 pack for the toughest environments. it is suitable for heavily trafficked areas and will withstand severe abuse – up to a point. it will not withstand broken glass and copious amounts of smirnoff ice without regular maintenance. it is a pro finish and re-coat times must be followed. too soon and sanding will damage the first coat, too late and you will need to re-sand whether it needs it or not. if finishing thin solids or battens that have been glued down, give the glue plenty of time to cure. water based lacquer contains…water. wood will take in moisture from the lacquer. thin timber may react by deforming across the grain. if the glue is not fully cured, or in some cases too elastic, you may end up with flooring shaped like pringles. for datasheet click here. 2k fusion matt – 5 ltr – £66.50 + vat 2k fusion semi gloss – 5 ltr – £66.50 + vat close lobadur viva available in various sheen levels, it is a one pack lacquer that will give good protection in most situations apart from heavy use. in theory, this is a great lacquer for beginners who always put on too much. if you skimp on the product, you will get roller marks. if you force dry you will get roller marks. if you put a decent amount on and let it run out, you will get good, mark free results. for datasheet click here. viva matt – 5 ltr – £46.30 + vat viva semi gloss – 5 ltr – £46.30 + vat close wakol ms 265 gun grade ms. or ms 230 in a bag. easy peasy to use, clean, no waste, fast and great for uneven sub-floors. used with slatted underlay it deadens footfall and provides an acoustic layer between floors. pretty handy stuff – many fitters use it for everything. bit pricey compared to trowelled adhesives but, as with most things, convenience costs. ideal for finishing jobs where you have just scraped the last from an 18kg tub and have two more boards to lay… for datasheet click here. 600cc – £6.38 + vat close wakol pu 225 wakol are good at most things but when it comes to anything involving polyurethane, they are miles ahead of second place. pu 225 is simply the best deal available when it comes to bond strength. if forced to use only one glue, this would be it. miles cheaper than any ms, even the nasty ones. it will stick almost anything to anything else. it comes in handy size tubs and doesn’t need moisture to cure. it is excellent for parquet, wide and extra wide boards and most things in between. the catch is, it’s a two pack. you need to spend maybe a minute mixing two components to make it work. am continually amazed how much more people will pay to avoid this simple task. downsides: semi-rigid so sub-floor needs to be as good as it’s supposed to be. great for parquet but does not bed up like the 5500. if you get it on anything including you, it will be on for ever, that’s how good it is. plutonium waste degrades faster. for datasheet click here. 6.75kg – £27.32 + vat close wakol ms 230 scruffy younger sister to ms260 but with more elasticity. when it first appeared, typical teutonic caution advised for use only on engineered. turns out it works with solid strips too. great for sub-floors that may not have all the tensile requirements needed. most movement is transferred to the adhesive which will absorb a surprising amount of movement. when using, we tend not to use with boards wider than 180mm/200mm depending on use and site conditions. for datasheet click here. 18kg – £85.10 + vat close wakol ms 260 this is the rolls royce of ms adhesives. semi rigid it has a little bit of give – bear in mind wood flooring has only a little bit of give. it has more than enough rigidity to restrain and hold the floor firm. excellent adhesion and performance. too many ms adhesives are diluted with cheaper extenders and fillers. ms260 is all adhesive and it shows in the lifetime performance. user friendly, wipes easily of pre-finished boards when spilled. even next day it will rub off with a finger. cleans off hands and tools easily. downside – check the price. for datasheet click here. 18kg – £97.30 + vat close lecol 7500 filler resin again, a specialist parquet product. can be used for mass grain filling for classic parquet work to achieve that skating rink look. also for spot filling of cracks and knots in unfinished floor boards prior to sanding and sealing. when mixed with the sanding dust of the wood to be filled, it gives a very good match and takes stains and oils very well. forget out of the tin fillers, they just don’t do it. what it doesn’t do very well is large holes and gaps between boards. it is very brittle with little flexibility. downsides are high solvent content and flammability. for datasheet click here. 0.8kg – £8.99 + vat 5kg – £35.00 + vat close wakol pu280 primer & dpm many modern floors are laid on concrete. this produces the most solid of sub-floors. problem with concrete, it needs lots of water to make it. you do not lay a floor until this residual moisture is at a low enough level not to trouble kiln dried wood flooring. residual moisture takes an awful long time to dissipate enough to receive a floor. the concrete society actually suggests the moisture levels needed for hardwood flooring are unrealistic. pu 280 will provide a barrier to residual moisture, strengthen the sub-floor and improve adhesion of the glue. in unheated floors it really is a no brainer. it also makes an excellent primer and adhesion promoter for sub-strates such as moisture proof chipboard or tiles etc. when used correctly. don’t forget it must be adhered to in less than 24hrs. if you miss this, put another coat on. for datasheet click here. 5kg – £71.50 + vat close lecol 5500 adhesive this adhesive is probably holds down more square meters of parquet than all the rest put together. it is an old school rigid adhesive that behaves like nothing else. when fitters talk of “grab” they mean the ability of the glue to hold elements in place firmly as soon as it is applied. initial grab of 5500 is legendary. this is desirable for parquet work. elements can be pushed together without slithering around like snakes on a plane. due to the nature of the glue, elements also can be bedded up to get over small undulations in the sub-floor reducing the need to use leveller which should be avoided at all costs. although not official, one of the main reasons for it’s enduring popularity is it’s use with reclaimed parquet. reclaimed parquet must have all traces of bitumen removed if using modern adhesives. however this old favourite will usua
